I've been a huge fan of the Fighting Through Podcast for quite a while now. Ever since first discovering Paul Cheall's wonderful, one-of-a-kind way of providing detailed, in-depth personal accounts that cover ever imaginable aspect of World War II history, I've been following along, in sequence. So it's been a while since I obtained my copy of "Fighting Through," his father Bill Cheall's memoir, and read it through. Now, as Paul takes us back to the source--the book, I am blown away. His reading of his father's words makes the War all too real. The horrific scene on the beach at Dunkirk is stunning for the gruesome, inescapable terror of it all. Bill keen-eyed observations show him to be a man of tremendous courage and compassion...and an insightful, talented storyteller. And just think, this is only the Introduction!
